The compulsory medical insurance laws will be completed in stages, with the first phase (now in advancement) involving 33 companies with work force of 500 employees and above. All insurers have to be licensed specifically to insure in Saudi Arabian Peninsula. 13 companies are already licensed.

As the checkup insurance industry becomes regulated, Bupa center East is presently awaiting final blessing of its application as a licensed medical insurance company by the Saudi Royal Cabinet.
